Services: | Western Maine Community Action (WMCA) is a social service agency that has been providing services for over 45 years to people living in the western mountain region of Maine. The organization is dedicated to the principle that poverty should not be a permanent condition of people’s lives. WMCA is able to respond quickly and effectively to the variety of needs of our disadvantaged population. We strive to marshal as many resources as possible in our efforts to provide comprehensive services responsive to conditions. The majority of our services are designed to assist low to moderate-income people in Franklin, Androscoggin and Oxford counties. We offer numerous programs and services that include: - Nutrition - Home ownership - Heating and energy assistance - Education and training - Employment and volunteerism |

Volunteer Opportunities: | Office assistance, data entry, family advocate, Operation Santa Claus, affordable homes (carpentry, electrical, wallpapering), rototilling, gardening, transportation, and special projects. Required training: Training provided depending on the program. Time requirements: From 2 hours per week to 35 hours per week. Some projects are short term; others are for a year. (207)645-3764. |
